Content:
The video starts by giving the viewer the year in which the first bit of the video is set in, this is 1965. As the video carries on, the visuals are in black and white expressing to the viewer that the film is old. It shows a close up shot of a little boy holding a ball in the car with his mother. As they leave the car, the boy and his mum are shown holding hands as a close up. As they get into the shop, the boy is seen looking through some clothes hanging up, montage editing then occurs giving the effect of light coming from the clothes which then leads onto more montage editing as the boy jumps into the light.
The montage editing shows the boy travelling down a fictional tunnel. The scene then changes to show another date, which was the current year when the song was released, 2015. The visuals then change into vibrant colours showing young adults walking around in different types of clothing than shown before. The women are wearing short skirts, short and crop tops where as before the mother was seen to be wearing a long dress, this expresses the time change to the viewer. Establishing shot and mid shots occur to set the scene and to make sure the viewer sees what the young adults are wearing. The revealing clothing on the women, stereotypically makes them seem more 'sexy'.
The shot changes become very quick showing a range of men and women posing against a wall. They are seen to be quite confident and have a harsh look on their faces. It then shows a high shot of them walking into a shop, this is very similar t how the other scene started. Tracking shots then begin to show the young adults trying on clothes within the shop and taking photos of themselves. It then shows the young adults come across the same light as seen in the last scene, the montage editing shows a visual of a beach, the male is trying to reach out to it. There is then a close up of the man jumping through the montage edit to find himself in a dark room with strobe lighting on the other young adults that decided to join. It shows mid shots of the people giving harsh looks to the camera, the montage editing is portrayed to almost capture them. The scene then quickly changes to the young adults in the sea on a beach, there is a lot of establishing shots showing the group having fun together and messing around. The beach is quite empty portraying they are the only ones there. They then come across an older man which spots the ball they have and is in shock. The viewer then discovers that the older man is the boy from the first scene and that he has time travelled as portrayed through the montage editing.
There is then a shot reverse shot of the man standing with the ball and then a shot of the younger boy in black and white holding the boy. This expresses to the reader that the man is the young boy from 1965. The montage editing then occurs in the distance on the beach. The scene then switches again to show the young group sitting around a fire on the beach laughing and bonding.
